Open Agilent .D and .dx files without ChemStation

Agilent ChemStation and OpenLab store each injection as a .D folder of binary files: .ch for single detector channels (UV at one wavelength, FID, CAD, ELSD), .uv for full diode-array spectra and .ms for mass spectra. OpenLab CDS 2 packs the same kind of data into a single .dx file. Without the vendor software on a licensed PC these files are hard to open, and older ChemStation versions do not run on Windows 11. Nagura Lab decodes them in your browser.

It also opens vendor-neutral formats that almost every instrument can export: JCAMP-DX and Galactic SPC spectra (IR, Raman, UV-Vis, NMR, MS) and AIA/ANDI .cdf chromatograms and GC-MS runs from Empower, Chromeleon, LabSolutions, OpenLab and others. Files are recognized by their contents, so you never pick an instrument or format.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. The decoding runs inside this page on your computer. Nothing is sent to a server, so confidential or unpublished data stays with you.

How do I export an Agilent chromatogram to CSV or Excel?

Drop the .D folder, tick the signals you want and press Download CSV. The file opens directly in Excel, Origin, Python or R.

Can I get a chromatogram at another wavelength from DAD data?

Yes. Open a DAD1.UV file, click the spectrum map at the time and wavelength you want, and add it as a chromatogram.

Can I open ChemStation data on Windows 11?

Yes. Only the newest ChemStation release is supported on Windows 11, but Nagura Lab runs in any modern browser, so old and new .D data opens on Windows 11, Mac and Linux without installing anything.

Which files are supported?

ChemStation .ch (versions 30, 130, 179, 181), .uv (31, 131 LC and OL) and .ms single-quadrupole files, including partial files from interrupted runs, and OpenLab CDS 2 .dx result files. JCAMP-DX (.jdx, .dx, .jcm) in every compression form, including files with several spectra and peak tables; multi-page files (NTUPLES, such as NMR FIDs) are not supported yet. Galactic SPC (.spc, .cgm), new and old format, including files with many spectra (series, maps, GC-MS); each spectrum in the file is listed separately. AIA/ANDI netCDF (.cdf), the export almost every chromatography data system offers: chromatograms (ASTM E1947) and GC-MS scans (E2077), netCDF classic, 64-bit offset and CDF-5; not netCDF-4.

My instrument's format is not supported. Can you add it?

Probably. Request a format and include a sample file if you may share one. We add formats on request for a one-off fee, quoted in advance.

Is it accurate?

Every supported Agilent file version is tested value by value against the open-source rainbow parser; JCAMP-DX, SPC and AIA files against independent open-source readers and against the checks stored in each file. Always check results that matter against your vendor software.
